The classification of U bolt

Time: 2024-11-25 Source: Author:
A U-bolt is a fastener with a U-shaped cross-section. It is usually made of metal and has a pair of parallel threaded rods and a U-shaped clevis that connects the two threaded rods. The ends of the threaded rods can be tightened by means of a nut to tighten the connection. The design of the U-bolt allows it to provide high tensile and shear strengths, making it suitable for use in structures that are subjected to high tensile and shear forces. U-bolts have different classifications according to different division criteria. This article will explore different classification of U bolt.

Classification according to shapes
Standard U-bolts: With a typical U-shaped structure, the cross-section is usually semi-circular. Suitable for a variety of connection and fixing tasks, such as fixing pipes, connecting steel structures, etc.
Square right-angle U-bolts: The cross section is square or rectangular, with the ends forming a right angle. Compared to standard U-bolts, they have higher strength and stability. They are often used in applications requiring higher strength and stability, such as bridges, connection of large equipment.
Triangular U-bolts: Triangular in cross-section, providing additional strength and stability. Suitable for heavy-duty applications, such as the connection and fixing of heavy machinery and equipment.
Special shaped U-bolts: Depending on specific needs, U-bolts can be made into other shapes, such as oval, trapezoidal, etc. These special shape U-bolts are usually used to meet specific connection and fixing needs.

Classification according to materials
Stainless steel U-bolts

Excellent corrosion resistance, suitable for wet or corrosive environments. Common stainless steel materials are 201, 304, 316, etc., according to the specific use of the environment to choose the appropriate material.
Carbon steel U-bolts
Lower cost, moderate strength and hardness, suitable for general applications. Common carbon steel materials are Q235, Q345 and so on.
Alloy steel U-bolts
They have higher strength and hardness and are suitable for high temperature, high pressure or heavy load applications. Alloy steel U-bolts are often used where higher performance is required.
U-bolts made of other materials
Including copper, aluminum and other materials for applications requiring conductivity or lightweight materials.

Classification according to thread type
Coarse thread U-bolts: Larger thread pitch, easy to install and dismantle. Suitable for applications that do not require high fastening force and sealing.
U-bolt with fine thread:Smaller thread pitch provides higher tightening force and sealing. It is suitable for applications that require high tightening force and sealing, such as pipe connections, seal fixing, etc.

Classification according to uses
U-bolts for construction
It is used to connect and fix bridges, steel structures, piping systems, etc. U-bolts for construction usually require high strength and stability to meet the safety requirements of buildings.
U-bolts for automobiles
Used for the connection of automotive suspension system, engine support, chassis structure, etc.  U-bolts for automotive are usually required to have excellent corrosion resistance and high strength to adapt to the complex environment of automobile use.
U-bolt for industrial use
Used for the connection and fixing of various mechanical equipment, production lines, heavy equipment, etc, U-bolts for industries are available in a wide range of types and specifications to meet the needs of different industrial fields.
U-bolts for special purposes
Such as aerospace, ocean engineering and other fields of high-end applications. These special purpose U-bolts usually require extremely high performance requirements, such as high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, corrosion resistance, etc.
