Anchor bolts: Solid foundation for construction and industry

Time:2024-10-14  Source:  Author:
Anchor bolts are long-threaded rods used to secure machines, equipment, or buildings directly to concrete floors or other infrastructure. When the mechanical member is installed on the concrete foundation, the J-shaped and L-shaped end of the bolt is buried in the concrete for use.

Anchor bolt is usually buried in the hole reserved before the concrete is poured, and after the concrete is hardened, it can form an extremely strong connection point that is not susceptible to external interference.

Ⅰ. Classification of Anchor Bolt

Straight Anchor Bolts: The most common type, the straight anchor bolts are designed to be easily repositioned before concrete sets and are suitable for most conventional installations.

J-bolts: curving into a "J" shape at the ends, this special shape provides a stronger grip and is especially suitable for heavy duty installations that require additional protection against pulling out.

Expansion Anchors: The use of physical principles, through the effect of expansion to achieve the fixed effect, without pre-drilling, suitable for the hardened concrete base.

Chemical Anchors: Rely on chemical adhesives to fill gaps to form high-strength bonding layers, suitable for high-precision positioning and high-load applications.

Ⅱ. Application

Construction project
In the construction of high-rise buildings, Bridges, tunnels and other infrastructure, anchor bolts bear the heavy responsibility of connecting columns, beams and the ground to ensure that the stability of the entire structure is not affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes and storms.

Heavy industry
Large equipment in the electric power, petroleum, chemical and other industries often need to be fixed by anchor bolts to resist the strong vibration force generated during operation and ensure production safety and efficiency.

Wind power facility
The anchor bolts at the bottom of the wind power tower constitute a huge anchoring system, which not only needs to resist the transverse force caused by strong winds, but also bear the vertical load brought by the dead weight and moment of inertia.

Ⅲ. Select and install points

Material selection
According to the specific conditions of use, the material of the anchor bolt can be selected from carbon steel, stainless steel to special alloy and other options to cope with corrosion, high temperature and other harsh environments.

Size confirmation
Accurately measure the weight, size and expected maximum stress of the fixed object to determine the specification and model of the anchor bolt to ensure adequate carrying capacity and durability.

Preparation for construction
Plan the layout of anchor bolts in advance, and set accurate reserved hole positions. If necessary, set templates to assist positioning and avoid rework caused by deviations.

Fixing and calibration
Before concrete placement, carefully adjust the vertical and parallelism of anchor bolts, and use a level and laser rangefinder for accurate verification to minimize installation errors.
